Heavy Events

A little bit track and field, a little bit powerful athletes in kilts, a whole lot of fun to watch! Our instructors will demonstrate these extremely difficult challenges and coach a few of our local champions in a friendly competition. Events include the Caber Toss, Stone Put, Hammer Throw, Light and Heavy Weight Throw, Weight for Height, Weight for Distance and Sheaf Toss. You won’t want to miss a minute.

The Ceilidh

This year we are very excited to announce a special reunion of St. James' Gate performing at this year's Ceilidh! Their classic celtic and east coast stylings are sure to get you out on the dance floor. We will start the evening at 5 PM with a lineup of opening Entertainers. St. James' Gate takes the stage at 8PM. Of course with this many pipers and drummers in house, intermissions mean the music just gets unplugged and louder!

Raffle for Highland Coo Chainsaw Sculpture

We are excited to have Chainsaw Carver Andrew Reimer do some live demonstrations of carving throughout the day. Andrew was generous enough to donate a carved statue of a Highland Coo that we are excited to raffle off in the evening! Tickets are available right now from any Flagstaff Scottish Club Member!

Andrew Reimer is a full-time chainsaw artist and the craftsman behind Reimer Carvings, known for transforming raw logs into striking works of art. With over three years dedicated to carving, and a background in custom woodworking and sawmill production, Andrew brings a deep understanding of wood, along with precision and efficiency, to every piece he creates.

Specializing in both functional and artistic carvings, his work ranges from wildlife and custom commissions to large-scale  on-site tree transformations. His style blends bold, clean cuts with expressive detail, resulting in pieces that stand out whether displayed in a home, business, or outdoor setting.

Andrew has experience competing in professional carving events and is recognized for his ability to produce high-quality carvings within tight timeframes—making his live demonstrations both engaging and impressive to watch. Audiences can expect to see raw timber quickly take shape into a finished piece through skill, planning, and hands-on experience.

Based in Alberta, Andrew continues to grow Reimer Carvings while creating custom pieces for clients and performing live at events across the region.
